I love this composition. So simple and yet so bold.
I had this composition in mind for quite some time and had time to paint it over the last couple of days. I will be entering it into a FCA chapter show this August.

I posted my still life box in a post regarding my Painting A Week #4 on WetCanvas and was asked to show how I made the box itself. So, for those of you that are interested, here is a PDF of the instructions on how to make one.

PAW #4

Number 4 is complete. It took about an hour to finish. The 9×12 Canson is a tough paper to work on when you are used to sanded paper. I have to use a much lighter touch and it doesn’t allow near as many layers.
I used a new still life box I made that incorporates four flaps that can be opened depending on where I want the light to come from. Either side, back or top. Best of all it mounts to a tripod as well.
