Post Ponting Workshop :: Two studies
Posted on November 2, 2008
After Dianna’s workshop painting I had time left over to complete two other works. This first one is of two posts in a field with lavender in front. I started with a complimentart watercolour underpainting to help bring out the pastels colours.
The last one is of two apple pears Dianna rescued from being eaten by a dear on her acerage.
Both were very enjoyable to do and very satisying to complete.

Paw #17 :: Orange Slice 04

The fourth of the series, I particularly like the starkness and angle of the shadow. I did tweak the painting more after this shot was taken. When I re-shoot it I’ll post it up.

PAW #8 :: Sake Cup
Posted on February 24, 2008
Here is my 8th instalment for this year - a sake cup.
Needless to say my brain never saw how bad the ellipse was until I brought the photo to the computer. :D
What I learned from this? Take your time and step back after the initial drawing stage and look for corrections.
9×12" on light blue Mi-Tienes.

Brush Study
Posted on February 6, 2008
I had to get into a painting last night even though it was late. I was looking for a simple still life object and saw this brush, picked it up and everything just fell into place. I love days like that.
It is 9×12" on blue/grey Canson Mi-Tientes. Very happy with the composition and the final outcome.
